Mission Opportunities

Touch The World

Fellowship of The Woodlands Missions

You’ve taken the first step toward an adventure in Missions by filling out the Missions’ Assessment form.  Congratulations and welcome aboard!  We are so exited about all that God has in store for you and those you will serve.

A mission is not just something we do. Our lives as Christ’s followers are always on mission wherever we are.  How awesome that God has skilled and gifted you with unique talents and abilities to share for His purposes in reaching a hurting world with hope and love.  You don’t have to be a vocational missionary to be on mission. God desires to take the gifts and skills He has given you and use them to reach others for Christ.

How To Prepare…

The best way to prepare for a short-term mission trip is to practice being on mission now, at home, at work, at church, in your neighborhood.  Look for practical ways to serve others, and share God’s love.  Pray for your world, your family and friends and those with whom God gives you influence.  As you do, you will live a life on purpose – His purpose!  You will share the adventure of His saving life.

What’s next?

  • Our staff is entering and assimilating all the data you have turned in from our Mission Weekend services.  If you were unable to return your Missions’ Assessment, please complete the one below and email to Alan Splawn .   Continue to check your email and pray for God to open the doors He wants you to walk through, the places He may assign for you.  He will provide wherever He guides.
  • Be resourceful in saving funds you can use for your mission trip.  Each volunteer will be responsible for securing their own funds.
  • If you are seeking to travel outside the U.S. please secure your passport now.  Here is a helpful link to get you started in getting or renewing your passport.  http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html
  • Both Class 101 and Class 401 are required classes to be a part of all FOTW Mission Trips.  Neither of these classes will cost a thing but your time.
  • Flexibility is a key to effective missions. “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall be bent but not broken.”
  • Family mission trips may include children from 4th gradeand older.  Parents will be responsible at all times for their own children. Remember the conditions in many of these areas are very primitive.
  • Every mission team member must sign a waiver of release before departing.
  • Some locations will require specific immunizations.  Be sure your tetanus shot is up to date as well. Go to http://www.cdc.gov/travel/index.htm for detailed information.

There are so many opportunities to serve in missions at Fellowship of The Woodlands.  Trips are limited in capacity.  If one fills up before you can register, don’t be discouraged.  God will open up just the trip for you.  Local trips to Sabine Pass and New Orleans will be ongoing.  Remember, the key is flexibility and faith.

Once again, thank you for offering yourself to God as part of the mission adventure at Fellowship of The Woodlands!

Blessings,

Alan Splawn
