Fostering Hope Ministry

A Foster Care and Adoption Ministry

Fostering Hope Ministry exists for the benefit of children who are part of the Texas Child Welfare system due to abuse and/or neglect as well as to care for what is biblically known as "orphans".  The primary mission is to recruit Christian families to become licensed temporary caregivers (foster families), or permanent caregivers (adoptive families) for these children, as well as permanent families for "orphans" through private and international adoptions.  In addition, Fostering Hope is committed to assisting foster, kinship, and/or those famililes in the process of adopting children who are part of the Texas Child Welfare system.

If you have a heart for helping children in need, you can also join our teams who support the needs of current foster families and provide education and resources to those interested in foster care or adoption. Please click here to contact us.

Mission Statement:

The Fostering Hope Ministry advances the well-being of children rescued from abusive and neglectful situations by facilitating their placement in Christian foster or adoptive homes, enabling foster families to better meet the needs of children in their care, and revealing God’s love to all foster children in our communities.

Vision Statement:

A community in which every child is in a Christian home and a permanent part of a loving caring family.

"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us." James 1:27 (NIV)

This is one of many commandments in God’s word that calls for the Christian community to step up and make a place for homeless children and extend a helping hand to families that have accepted this godly challenge.

The facts are staggering:

  • 2652 children entered the foster care system in the Houston area last year.

  • At the end of 2007 there were 6232 children awaiting adoption in the state of Texas.

  • Each year 22,000 children at age 18 are forced out of the system without any family or support.

  • Within 12 to 18 months a large percentage of those young people who “age-out” of the foster system are either unemployed, incarcerated, addicted to drugs, have an unwanted child or are homeless.

The Fostering Hope Ministry was born out of a vision that Woodlands Church and it’s thousands of members could make a huge difference in the lives of God’s most "at risk" children. Our ministry works to identify and train new foster parents who want to open their homes and/or ultimately adopt a child placed in their care.

Opportunities to Serve:

Become a Foster Parent:  We will help get you trained and prepared for this effort as well as coordinate the process to state approval.

Adopt a child from the Foster System: Our ministry will provide education and assistance through this journey and stand beside you as you provide a forever family for a needy child.

Provide support to Foster Parents:  If taking a new child into your home is not right for you, you can still provide valuable and much needed help to those who have or are in the planning process.

If you are considering becoming a foster parent or adopting a child from the foster care system, our ministry provides the resources, training and guidance through those processes. For more information or to volunteer in our ministry, please contact us at Fostering Hope.
