This ministry is for expectant moms and dads. The Baby Blessing takes place two months before the baby is born. It can be a small affair or it can be done at a baby shower. The Baby Blessing lasts about 15 –30 minutes, depending on the size of the group and the number of individual prayers offered. One leader can pray for the blessings on the following list, or other participants may lead these prayers in turn:
After the prayers, a certificate is available for the participants to sign which reads: WE LOVED YOU BEFORE WE KNEW YOU. The certificate, with the mom’s name printed on it, is given to her after everyone signs it.
A letter signed by Pastor Kerry Shook is given to the Mom and Dad. The letter is not to be opened until the child turns 18. Pastor Kerry writes in the letter about how God has a plan for them, and that he hopes to encourage them during such a pivotal time of the child’s life.
Special Event Baby Dedications are held each year to honor our commitments as parents to raise our children in Christ’s name and in His word.
1 Samuel 1-3. It is no wonder that Samuel became such a tremendous prophet! Hannah responded to God in love, gratitude and obedience. God blessed her for her dedication.
It is our privilege to join you in a commitment to pray for your child as you raise him/her “in the training and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4) We look forward to sharing this very special time with you and your family.
These groups are formed as the need arises. The groups consist of first-time moms who want to fellowship and be with other women who are first-time mothers. This is only for moms with their first baby, no siblings. A leader is usually chosen from the church so the needs can be ministered through the church resources.
The church advertises when a new group is forming, and the moms decide when and where the next gathering will be. A church member leads this ministry in the first meeting and speaks to the mom that has shown an interest in leading and is a member of the church.
These moms meet as often as they want and set their own schedules. If any problems arise, the church member who opens the first meeting is contacted, and if necessary, they contact the preschool pastor. These groups usually stay connected for years, as the bonding is Christ led.
